Introduction
Thailand is a farming country. So when a small group of Bangkok designers needed a name for their studio, they picked something humble: they wanted people to know that they grow the work themselves, rather than an ad agency taking the credit. First they called it Graphicfarm. As the jobs got bigger, they changed it to Farmgroup.
Farmgroup is a design consultancy in Bangkok, Thailand, working since 2005. It started with three people and had grown to a team of 20 by 2018. It does a lot more than logos: branding, typefaces, print, digital, events, exhibitions, installations and even commercial interiors. It also runs its own event, Hotel Art Fair, which brings galleries from across Thailand together under one roof.
This one felt close to home. I've met many clients who weren't sure design was worth paying for. Farmgroup talks about that problem very openly, and I respect it.
Quick Answer: Should You Hire Farmgroup?
Yes, if you're a Thai or Southeast Asian brand that wants one team to handle identity, print, events and space together. If you need a website built fast or a team that knows Western markets well, look elsewhere.

How I Researched Farmgroup
Disclosure: my service appears in the alternatives table. Farmgroup and I both create brands, but our work is quite different. Farmgroup designs everything from logos to whole interiors in Thailand. I'm one person who builds brands and websites for smaller businesses.
I haven't worked with Farmgroup. On November 2, 2026, I read a long 2018 interview with three of its team members in DESK Magazine by Tobias van Schneider, plus its listings on G2 and AroundDeal. That's a thin set of sources, and the main one is from 2018. Please check the details with the studio.
What Is Farmgroup?
Farmgroup calls itself a full-service design consultancy. In the DESK interview, Tap explained the name change: they added "group" to show there are people behind the work, a mix of skills, and room to grow.
Here's what I could confirm:
Started: 2005, in Bangkok.
Old name: Graphicfarm.
Size: 3 people at the start, 20 by 2018.
Leadership: Tap and the partners choose the clients, then ask designers if they want to take the job.
That last point is unusual. Letting designers say yes or no to a project is a small detail, but it usually means happier designers and better work.
What Does Farmgroup Do?
Service | In simple words | Real example |
|---|---|---|
Branding and identity | A logo and full look | "Another Story" branding |
Typefaces | Custom fonts for a brand | Listed as a core service |
Print and reports | Printed books and reports | An annual report for Noble |
Events and exhibitions | Design for shows and fairs | Hotel Art Fair, run by Farmgroup |
Installations | Big objects for a space | The Bamboo Chandelier |
Commercial interiors | Designing shops and cafés | Listed as a core service |
The Bamboo Chandelier is my favorite example. Farmgroup worked with local craftspeople in Chiang Rai province to make it. Tap said the project also helped those craftspeople create jobs, and they later became able to support themselves and their villages. That's design doing real good.
What Does Farmgroup Charge?
Option | Price | What to know |
|---|---|---|
Minimum project | Not public | Ask directly |
Brand identity | Custom quote | Ask for a range |
Custom typeface | Custom quote | Thai and Latin scripts take longer |
Event or exhibition | Custom quote | Building costs extra |
Interior design | Custom quote | Construction is separate |
The catch to plan for
A team that does identity and interiors can save you time, because one group shapes the whole experience. But interiors bring building costs, contractors and permits. Ask Farmgroup which parts it designs and which parts it manages, so nothing falls between the cracks.
A real-world scenario
Here's an example. Imagine a new café opening in Bangkok's busy Ari area. The street already has ten "Instagram-ready" cafés.
Farmgroup's designer Irin said in the interview that café projects are now a real challenge, because the market is so full. For our café, Farmgroup might create a name, logo, menu, cups and a corner of the interior that all tell one story. If I owned the café, I'd ask them to start with what makes the coffee different, not with the wallpaper.
What Are Clients Saying About Farmgroup?
I couldn't find Clutch or Google reviews. Here's what I found instead:
Award wins at local and regional level, according to the DESK interview.
Hotel Art Fair, its own yearly event that brings galleries together.
A visit from Tobias van Schneider, who said the team exceeded his expectations.
Pro bono work, with no fixed limit as long as paid work isn't affected.
Tap was refreshingly honest about awards. He said the team doesn't really believe in them, but started entering because Thai clients care about them. I like that honesty. It shows a studio that knows its market.
Can You Trust Farmgroup?
Yes, with a note. It's a real Bangkok studio working since 2005 and featured by a well-known designer. But most public info is from 2018, so check today's team and work.
What I Think as a Designer
What touched me most is this idea from Tap: their job isn't only to make good design, but also to help people understand what good design is. In places where design is new to many clients, teaching is part of the work.
I do a small version of this with every client. When I suggest more white space or fewer words, I explain why, using a quick before-and-after. Once people see it, they trust it.
My caution is old information. A team can change a lot in eight years. Ask for recent projects before you decide.
What Farmgroup Does Well

Designers choose their projects.
Where Farmgroup Falls Short
Prices aren't public.

Websites aren't its main focus.
Who Is Farmgroup Right For?
Farmgroup suits you if you're:
a café, restaurant or shop opening in Thailand,

a company that wants one team for brand and space,
a cultural group or art fair in Southeast Asia.
Who Should Skip Farmgroup?
You'll want another studio if you need:
a website designed and built quickly,
a team focused on Western markets,
app or software design,
the cheapest possible logo.
What to Ask Farmgroup on the First Call
"How big is the team today, and who would lead our project?"
"Can you share three projects from 2024 or later?"
"Which parts of an interior project do you manage?"
"Do you design custom Thai typefaces?"
"Do you work with clients outside Thailand?"
"What's a typical budget for a café identity and interior?"
Other Studios People Ask About
I haven't ranked these. My service shows up first, and the four after it are batch-mates from this review set.

Who's Behind This Review?
I'm Subarno, a self-taught designer who works solo on brands and no-code websites. Like Farmgroup, I often explain design choices to clients, because good design is easier to trust once you understand it.
My $1,000/month retainer covers:
website design in Figma,
website builds in Framer or Webflow,
branding for smaller businesses, like logos, colors and brand guides,
small website animations and interactions,
banners, posters and social media content.
Book a free 30-minute call or reach out on my contact page. If you're a Thai brand that wants one team for identity, events and space, Farmgroup is the better choice.
Bottom Line: Is Farmgroup Worth It?
Farmgroup is a Bangkok consultancy that grew from three people to twenty by doing playful, crafty work across many formats. Its Bamboo Chandelier and Hotel Art Fair show it cares about community as much as clients.
Public information is thin and dated, so ask for fresh examples. If they impress you, Farmgroup could design not just your logo, but the whole place your customers walk into.
