Introduction
Some agencies start big. Skinn started around one lunch table. In its early days, everyone ate together. Today, it has more than 60 people across three locations, and it calls itself one of Belgium's largest independent branding agencies.
Skinn is a branding agency based in Bruges and Antwerp, Belgium, founded in 2006 by Kurt De Vlieghere and David van Gessel. It creates new brands, rebrands, packaging, spaces, websites, apps and webshops. Recent work includes a ready-meals brand called A Pinch Of, now on the shelves of Delhaize, one of Belgium's biggest supermarkets. Its own website even won an Awwwards Site of the Day.
I like growth stories like this one. Going from a lunch table to 60 people takes more than good design. It takes trust, clients who come back and a team that wants to grow together.
Quick Answer: Should You Hire Skinn?
Yes, if you're a Belgian or Benelux company that wants one agency for brand strategy, identity, packaging and digital. If you're a tiny business with a small budget, or outside Europe, look elsewhere.

How I Researched Skinn
Disclosure: my service appears in the alternatives table. Skinn and I both build brands and websites, but at very different sizes. Skinn has a large team serving Belgian companies. I'm a solo designer for smaller businesses.
I haven't worked with Skinn. On November 2, 2026, I read Skinn's 2018 press release, a Bright Analytics case story, its Sortlist, G2 and The Manifest listings, a We and the Color feature, its Craft CMS partner page and public LinkedIn posts from the team. Some numbers differ between sources, so I show the ranges.
What Is Skinn?
Skinn describes its work as brand development, brand optimization and brand monitoring. In simple words: it creates brands, improves existing ones and helps keep them strong over time.
Here's what I could confirm:
Founders: Kurt De Vlieghere and David van Gessel.
Founded: 2006 in its press release; Sortlist says 2005.
Offices: Bruges and Antwerp, with three locations mentioned in one source.
Team: 51 on Sortlist, and "more than 60" in a Bright Analytics story.
Leadership growth: in 2018, Anneleen Demasure and Ruth Bossuyt joined the management team.
Skinn's own goal, from that press release, is to touch its clients' customers in the head and in the heart. That's a nice, simple way to explain branding.
What Does Skinn Do?
Service | In simple words | Real example |
|---|---|---|
New brands | Creating a brand from zero | A Pinch Of ready meals |
Rebranding | Updating an old brand | A digital talent agency |
Packaging | Designs for shop shelves | A Pinch Of at Delhaize |
Catalogs and print | Printed brand pieces | Woodstar's lifestyle-style catalog |
Education branding | Brands for schools | HOGENT, a Belgian university college |
Websites and apps | Digital brand experiences | Its award-winning own site |
A Pinch Of shows Skinn's full process. Team posts say it handled the branding, packaging and tone of voice for this ready-meals brand, built to stand out on a busy supermarket shelf. Getting a new brand into a major supermarket is a real test of packaging design.
What Does Skinn Charge?
Option | Price | What to know |
|---|---|---|
Minimum project | Not public | Ask directly |
New brand | Custom quote | Strategy plus design |
Packaging range | Custom quote | Printing is separate |
Website or webshop | Custom quote | Ask what platform |
Brand monitoring | Custom quote | Ongoing support |
The catch to plan for
With a team of 50 or more, you get many skills in one place. But bigger agencies usually mean more people on calls and higher overall budgets. Ask who your daily contact will be, and whether a smaller version of the process is possible for your size.
A real-world scenario
Picture a family bakery in Ghent that wants to sell cookies in supermarkets. Its current packaging is homemade, and buyers won't take it seriously.
Skinn's A Pinch Of work suggests it would start with strategy (who buys the cookies, and why), then create a brand, packaging and tone of voice that can stand next to big brands on a shelf. If I ran the bakery, I'd ask Skinn to test the packaging in a real store aisle before printing thousands of boxes.
What Are Clients Saying About Skinn?
On Sortlist, Skinn has a 4.88 out of 5 rating from 4 reviews. That's a small number, but a strong score.
Other signs of trust:
Big shelf space: A Pinch Of on Delhaize shelves.
Education client: HOGENT, a Belgian university college.
Awwwards Site of the Day and Developer Award for its own website.
Craft CMS partner, meaning it builds websites on that platform.
Steady growth from a few people to 50+.
Bright Analytics quoted the team describing Skinn as "quite on the ambitious side." For a client, that usually means energy and big ideas.
Can You Trust Skinn?
Yes. It's a registered Belgian company running since around 2006, with named founders, offices in Bruges and Antwerp and a strong Sortlist rating.
What I Think as a Designer
What I respect most is the idea of brand monitoring. Many agencies build a brand and leave. Skinn also helps keep it healthy. Brands drift over time, so someone needs to watch over them.
I see this on websites too. A site looks perfect at launch, then six months of quick updates slowly break its style. That's one reason I like working on a monthly basis.
My caution: Skinn's domain seems to be moving to skinn.agency, and numbers vary between sources. Confirm the team size and who'll lead your project.
What Skinn Does Well
Full branding under one roof.
Packaging for big retailers.
Award-winning web work.
Growing senior team.
Ongoing brand care.
Where Skinn Falls Short
No public prices.
Few online reviews.
Numbers vary by source.
Belgium-focused clients.
May be too big for tiny budgets.
Who Is Skinn Right For?
Skinn suits you if you're:
a food brand heading into supermarkets,
a school, college or public body,
a Belgian company needing a rebrand,
a brand wanting packaging and web together.
Who Should Skip Skinn?
Look elsewhere if you need:
a very small logo job,
a studio outside Europe,
one designer you talk to directly every day,
deep data or app UX design.
What to Ask Skinn on the First Call
"Who will be our main contact day to day?"
"Can you show us the A Pinch Of process from start to shelf?"
"Do you offer a lighter process for smaller companies?"
"Which platform do you build websites on?"
"What does ongoing brand monitoring include?"
"What's a typical budget for a new brand and packaging?"

Bottom Line: Is Skinn Worth It?
Skinn grew from a lunch table to one of Belgium's largest independent branding agencies. Its work for Delhaize shelves and its award-winning website show both retail and digital skills.
It's a big team with few public reviews and no published prices. Ask about your contact person and budget early. If those fit, Skinn is a strong all-in-one partner.
